Otokar to exhibit KAYA, COBRA II and ARMA Armoured Vehicles at IDEX 2015

Otokar, the largest national and privately owned company of Turkish defence industry, presented the new version of its mine resistant troop carrier KAYA, amphibious version of COBRA II, ARMA 6x6 and ARMA 8x8 at IDEX 2015, in Abu Dhabi, UAE, between 22nd and 26th February.

Turkey’s land systems manufacturer Otokar displayed its four different armoured vehicles at IDEX. The new version of KAYA mine resistant troop carrier is firstly showcased at IDEX, while amphibious version of COBRA II, ARMA 6x6 and ARMA 8x8 are exhibited with Otokar design turret systems BOZOK and UCOK. Visitors had also chance to watch the ongoing tests on Altay, Turkey’s Main Battle Tank Altay.

Regarding IDEX 2015 Mr. Serdar Görgüç , General Manager of Otokar, said: “We are proud to be at IDEX for the 7th time and serve the region with our state of art armoured vehicles. This year we are exhibiting the new version of our mine resistant armoured vehicle KAYA, for the first time at IDEX. Developed according to the users’ expectations and needs, new KAYA has 13 tonnes GVW in a single cabin body. Our other vehicle COBRA II has also has been tested in Gulf Region and proved its performance under hot climate conditions along with its amphibious capabilities. We are indeed very proud to see the trust and appreciation towards Otokar armoured vehicles in Gulf Region. I strongly hope that this exhibition will bring new opportunities to Otokar.”

Emphasizing Otokar’s new turret systems are displayed at IDEX Mr Görgüç said: “The feedbacks and the expectations of our users are our guidelines to enlarge our product portfolio. Today we manufacture soft skinned and armoured vehicles from 3/4 tonnes to 60 tonnes. Although we have been designing turret systems since 1989, in recent years we have an intense focus on this area. With our turret and remotely controlled weapon systems, we aim to present integrated solutions to our users in different configurations. At IDEX 2015 we are exhibiting BOZOK 25mm MKT turret and UCOK Remote Controlled Weapon Station on ARMA multi-wheel armoured family.”

Otokar exhibited the new version of KAYA mine resistant armoured vehicle for the first time at IDEX. New KAYA has a single cabin body with 13 tonnes GVW. New KAYA is added to Otokar mine resistant armoured vehicles family, consisting of two-cabin body KAYA, KAYA II and KALE. KAYA family is specially designed and developed as a Mine Resistant Troop Carrier based on highly mobile chassis. KAYA provides enhanced mine and ballistic protection along with superior mobility on all terrain conditions while offering outstanding crew comfort. New KAYA carries up to eight troops in addition to driver and commander in a single cabin monocoque body. Thanks to the modular design of Kaya, the vehicle can be configured as mine resistant cargo carrier.
