Otokar, the leader of the Turkish bus market, announced the acquisition of Mauri Bus System SrL to drive its expansion in Europe. The new subsidiary will also support Otokar’s ambitions for the Italian market.

Otokar, a Koç Group company, announced its 2021 financial results, confirming its steady growth. Otokar General Manager Serdar Görgüç noted that the company continued its operations at full steam in harmony, cooperation and mutual trust with all its stakeholders. “Otokar recorded TL 4.5 billion in revenues with 55% year-on-year growth, posting a net operating profit of TL 1 billion 76 million with a 69% increase. Furthermore, our exports in 2021 amounted to US$345 million as our net profit rose to TL 1 billion 42 million”.  

Otokar will exhibit its 12m electric public transportation bus e-Kent C at MENA Transport Congress and Exhibition (MTCE) on 6-8 February 2022 at the Dubai World Trade Center. e-Kent C is designed to contribute to a cleaner environment and quieter traffic and deliver lower operating costs and higher efficiency. In addition to its design, the bus also stands out with its comfort level, technologies, and innovative safety solutions.

The leader of the bus market remained the same in 2021, with Otokar, a Koç Group company, continuing to be the choice of public transportation, personnel and tourism transportation operators and fleets. Despite another year marked by the challenges of the coronavirus pandemic, Otokar maintained its market leadership for the 13th time.

Turkey’s leading bus manufacturer Otokar continues to promote its 12mt electric public transportation bus e-Kent C across Europe. e-Kent C, designed to contribute to a cleaner environment and quieter traffic and deliver high efficiency, was in Italy after visiting Germany, Spain, and Romania. During the one month visit, several private and public transport companies found the opportunity to test the 12mt all-electric e-Kent C, which offers a range of 300+ kilometers on a full charge depending on usage, in nine locations across Italy.  

Turkey’s leading bus manufacturer Otokar continues to maintains its high momentum in exports. With modern buses operating in over 50 countries and offering comfortable and safe travel for millions of passengers, Otokar most recently won the tender opened by the Ramnicu Valcea Municipality in Romania. Sixteen 12mt natural gas-powered Otokar Kent C CNG buses will be delivered to the city to serve the people of Romania in 2022.

The agreement for the tender that the IETT General Directorate awarded to Otokar for the procurement of 100 articulated buses was signed. The agreement signing ceremony for the new 21 meter buses that will serve the people of Istanbul took place at the IETT Metrobus Garage with Ekrem İmamoğlu, the Mayor of Istanbul, Alper Bilgili, General Manager of IETT, and Serdar Görgüç, General Manager of Otokar. The KENT C Articulated buses, which Otokar developed to raise the public transportation standards in Istanbul, will be delivered in lots by 2022. Otokar will also provide IETT after-sales services for three years.

Turkey’s leading bus manufacturer Otokar has taken yet another step in the direction of an emission-free future with its twelve-meter-long passenger bus. The company is relying on batteries from Webasto to power the bus. Visitors can experience the bus in September on the IAA Mobility in Munich.  

Turkey’s leading bus brand, Otokar, proceeds at full speed in exports. Providing safe and comfortable rides for millions of passengers in 50 countries with more than 35 thousand buses, Otokar received an order for 50 CNG buses from Azerbaijan to serve in Baku’s public transportation.  

Otokar delivered 364 buses to ESHOT, an Izmir Metropolitan Municipality company, completing the delivery of one of the biggest bus purchasing contracts in Turkey’s recent history in as short as one year. Otokar KENT LF and KENT LF Articulated buses were put into service with a ceremony attended by CHP Chair Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, Izmir Mayor Tunç Soyer, ESHOT General Manager Erhan Bey, and Otokar General Manager Serdar Görgüç.  

Turkey’s leading bus brand Otokar added Slovakia to its international bus markets. Otokar recently received an order from Bratislava Transport Company DPB for 40 Kent Articulated buses.  

Otokar signed an agreement with EGO General Directorate after winning the contract for the procurement of 28 articulated buses. 

Otokar continues to shape the future of public transportation with research and development activities focused on alternative fueled-vehicles, intelligent buses and autonomous driving. The collaborative project that Otokar carries out in partnership with Okan University for the autonomous bus of Turkey marked an important milestone. With the development work ongoing for three years, the second phase of the software integration and driverless verification tests of Turkey’s first autonomous bus is completed

Otokar is awarded the contract for 304 buses by Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, one of Türkiye’s largest municipalities, marking the largest order with a single item this year.
