In 2002, Otokar acquired another Koç Group Company, Istanbul Fruehauf A.S., and added the trailer and semi-trailer production to its activities. Under the license of Fruehauf, Otokar is one of the two main market players in Turkey in trailer production and sales. Since 2006, Otokar has been producing semi-trailers with its own brand apart from Fruehauf semi-trailers.
